The Truth About The Baby Nursery
So here’s the thing…
Your baby definitely needs a safe place to sleep.
But it does not need to look like an influencer’s Pinterest board.

I hate to mess with your aesthetic goals, but that expensive transforming crib/changing table/full-size-bed? Totally optional. Especially if you plan on having more than one child

For most families, that stuff is:
 – Expensive
 – Overhyped
 – And often… kinda impractical

Real talk: Many of those dreamy nursery setups make it so the only place baby care can happen is in the nursery. And depending on your house or lifestyle, that’s a huge pain in the butt.

As a mom of 5, here’s what I’ve learned:
✨ A simple, anchored dresser with a changing pad at the right height works great, bonus your back will thank you and when your little one is out of diapers: just remove the changing pad.
✨ A safe, affordable crib from IKEA? Does the job beautifully, and can be reused for any subsequent babies.
✨Babies don’t care about decor… they want comfort and closeness
✨ A bassinet in your bedroom is perfect since the AAP recommends rooming-in the first 6 months.
✨ If you qualify, bed sharing following the safe sleep 7 is also a great for some families.

Some other thoughts;
🙃 You might feed the baby on the couch more than in the nursery.
👩‍❤️‍👨 You can keep your sex life even with a baby in your room. Ask me how I know.
😴 Walking across the room to feed baby is much better than across the house.
🙃 You might even get creative, like I did, and put my favorite chair for nursing (the Ikea Poäng with ottoman obviously) in the dining area, so I could be with the family while I nursed the littlest.

Here’s the point:
 A beautiful nursery is fine.
But you and your baby live in a whole home—not just one room.
Instead of spending thousands on gear you may not use…
What if you invested in what you actually need?

✅ A safe place to sleep
✅ A way to feed baby
✅ Diapers, wipes, and a tub
✅ Some clothes, a car seat, a baby carrier
✅ And… real support
